Widely considered the crown jewel of Boise trails, this one’s got it all: rolling singletrack, massive ponderosa pines, views that stretch all the way to the Sawtooths, and plenty of berms. Typically ridden counterclockwise—don’t try to go the other direction on a weekend! Around the Mountain is popular with trail users of all types. You can loop it with Deer Point and Morningstar, and even throw Mahalo in there for extra jollies. Many of Boise’s best mountain bike rides incorporate ATM in some fashion.
Recent Trail Reports
- July 18, 2022 at 9:59 amI rode ATM last Thursday. Trail was in great shape and I encountered only 1 hiker. Could the counter clockwise edict be changed to apply only on weekends? It's a great trail clockwise as well and with little weekday traffic there shouldn't be many conflicts. How many conflicts were there before the counter clockwise mandate went into effect? I did take the Ridge to Rivers survey and recommended this weekends only restriction for ATM.
- June 25, 2020 at 4:32 pmLogging closures are no longer in affect. The trail is running great. Tacky dirt and great weather.
- May 29, 2020 at 9:25 amSnow on North side and lots of down trees was last report I heard. Ridge to Rivers plans to get up there in the next week or so and clear trees I believe.
- May 24, 2020 at 5:32 pmDoes anyone know whether Around the Mountain is open? Clear of snow?
- June 18, 2019 at 12:55 pmJust got confirmation from Ridge to Rivers via email that ATM is open. Woohoo!
- November 1, 2018 at 6:47 pmHiked today starting around 2–beautiful day up in the clouds. The trail was amazing—a couple soft spots but I was expecting it to be way worse—just the right amount of water to get all that dry, slippery stuff packed down!
- June 30, 2018 at 9:28 amHeed the warning sign when driving up Bogus Basin rd. They are repaving and wait times are as long as 30 minutes. Not sure if they are working weekends. They were still working at 730 pm on Friday.

ATM was riding great this morning.
We are a couple from BC visiting Boise this week to do some riding. Since our thermal tolerance is still in Canadian mode we want to check out the Around the Mountain, Berm Baby Berm area. Is it good to go yet?
Eastside, Sweet Connie, Highlands was fun yesterday. Cheers and thanks in advance.
I don’t believe ATM or Berm Baby Berm are ready / snow free. The Bogus webcam is showing lots of snow patches everywhere.
If you want to avoid the heat, do Shingle Creek and Dry Creek Loop.
