Shane’s trail is one of the staples of Boise trail routes. Shane’s loop (counterclockwise) is popular because it makes a nice hour-ish long ride from town, with a flowy descent and only one little painful climbing section. It’s smooth, with no technical or otherwise notable features to speak of. It’s a good loop for beginner mountain bikers looking to get a little further from town. It’s also popular with runners.

- April 17, 2019 at 11:04 amThe western arm that connects to the bottom of 3 Bears should be avoided. The rest is ok. Ride through not around puddles.

- March 11, 2018 at 8:46 pmCompletely dry and riding great. Even the section on the lower north side that’s usually muddy.
- March 8, 2018 at 4:29 pmCounterclockwise from Bucks to the top is excellent. There still looks to be a lot of mud on the northern side and it should be avoided. The connection back to Bucks (also northern aspect) is probably bad. Make it an out and back for the short term.
- February 15, 2018 at 8:25 amThe trails felt like riding on a snow cone. I don't know how long the trails will be rideable even later this morning. In fact, it was already turning into mud at the bottom of the trails.

Rode great this morning. Only a few small puddles in flat areas.
Shane’s is currently dry with only a few small puddles.
Was frozen this morning, but there was a surprising amount of puddles on the southern end that will make it unrideable when it warms up this afternoon.
Still lots of frozen puddles in the flat areas.
