Trail is riding well right now and there are no reports of mud, deadfall, or snow.

Broken Horn doesn’t get enough attention. It’s a quality singletrack that is fun in either direction. Broken Horn has lots of flow and some intermittent little chunky sections, too. It’s also the best way to connect Hidden Springs with Avimor. Perhaps it’s overlooked because of the savage dog on Broken Horn Rd. (before you reach the trail), who snarls at passersby like Cerberus, the hellhound of the underworld. He wants to eat your face.  From the Avimor side (the north), there’s a gate blocking the road, so you’ll have to ride or hike in to the beginning of Broken Horn.

  • theelax42 June 30, 2021 at 12:32 pmwhere is the Trailhead for Broken Horn? both ends can only be accessed (from Boise) by going thru Private Property that have a sign reading "NOT A TRAILHEAD, PLEASE SEE TRAIL MAP"
  • jpease June 24, 2019 at 4:20 pmBrush has been recently pruned back. All clear. A few spots with erosion.
  • docmatt August 12, 2018 at 9:15 pmNo sign of a crazy dog today. Took this up and came down on Spring Valley Creek. Great loop!
  • hunter208 March 27, 2018 at 3:59 pmLoved this trail today. Everything was clear for the most part. Ran into some trouble when I decided to make it a loop on the way back down and go towards the Avimor side back down to broken horn round. The Avimor is side is a little muddy and it would have been more fun just to follow the trail back the way I cam, it’s more technical and interesting.
  • Drjrig March 22, 2018 at 3:56 pmI don't have a report on trail conditions. However, the dog mentioned in the description is dead on accurate. First time I rode past that dog I was convinced he wanted to kill me. It was the first time in my life I was legit scared of a dog. So beware!
  • savage lake January 15, 2018 at 9:05 pmSome patches of mud today. Just enough to get your bike dirty, not do any trail damage.
