AKA Hero Dirt. Yes, your ideal conditions that you want to hit up first before any of your friends find out. Sure you want to keep it low key, but be a good trail steward and let your buddies know its time to shred.

Three Bears is a quality trail that’ll get you away from the crowds and into the middle/upper foothills. Three Bears is named for the three steep sections that will light your leg muscles on fire. If you can ride up Papa Bear (the steepest and rockiest section) without dabbing, congrats: you’re pretty good at pedaling a bicycle. Three Bears makes a ripper downhill, with open sight lines that allow for a ton of speed. Three Bears is most popular with bikers, but you’ll see some hikers, too, on weekends.

Some muddy sections on road grade portion as well but not much to worry about there. Upper portion (connection with Watchman) is under 1-2 feet of snow at the top. Will be at least another couple of weeks before it is 100% rideable.

The fence alongside the green gate at the bottom of 3 Bears near the shooting range has been pulled down. A couple of weeks ago it looked like the end post had been pushed aside and now that stretch of fence is down completely. I may be wrong, but it looks intentional. Assuming it’s an act of vandalism, it will not sit well with the landowner who has done us the favor of granting access. It just take a few knuckleheads to screw it up for everyone.

  10. ramihz says:

3 Bears is running nice from where Watchman connects all the way down, no snow. Can’t say for sure what the connector down to rocky canyon is like though.

  11. ramihz says:

Came down 3 bears from Watchman this morning. No mud or puddles

  12. pneisen says:

Lower 3 bears to the top of Shane’s was mostly good yesterday. Just some muddy stretches up to Shane’s that were still frozen when I went through.
