AKA Hero Dirt. Yes, your ideal conditions that you want to hit up first before any of your friends find out. Sure you want to keep it low key, but be a good trail steward and let your buddies know its time to shred.

Shingle Creek is a freaking gem. It has dual personalities. The first portion–the old portion–is at times raw and narrow, with a steep drop into the nearby creek. This is real singletrack, ladies and gentlemen. It ascends from golden hills into the pine trees. The second portion is a new route, which veers out of the canyon and onto the dry hillside. This part is an old access road repurposed into modern singletrack. Shingle Creek is popular with bikers, hikers and hardcore trail runners. It’s a great loop with Dry Creek.

Hiked up Shingle Creek and down Dry Creek. Encountered forest service guys maintaining trails as we entered Shingle Creek. It was a fun hike and gradual switchbacks as you near the top. You come out about 1/4 mile from Ridge Road at the Dry Creek marker.

Rode it to ridge road today. The snow along the top is almost gone, you can ride on the edge of the little that’s remaining. Riding very well, creeks are no big deal.

  9. rocketman says:

Big tree is still blocking the trail about 1/4 of the way down.

    1. welyas says:

All clear! The fallen tree has been removed.

  10. Kirk Cheney says:

There’s a big new tree down as of 8/11/18, must’ve fallen in the last few days. It’s on the upper creekside section.

  11. kimlyons says:

Rode Shingle and Dry Creek on 5/1 and both are completely clear of snow

  12. ramihz says:

Rode Shingle Creek Monday and looped with Dry Creek. Virtually no snow to deal with at this point. Just a 20 ft short section to walk through. It’s gotta be gone now. Yes creeks are deep.

  13. Kirk Cheney says:

Shingle creek is in good shape. There’s one squishy field early on that you can skirt around. After that it’s great all the way to the ridge. The creek is deep, of course.

    1. ramihz says:

Rode it this morning, and hit snow not long after the switchbacks end and you are on the north facing flats before the intersection with upper Dry Creek. Agreed though all else below was in great shape.
